Cook and Wright were manufactured with the basic GS AI implemented. They were given time to develop their sense of self (personalities/opinions) while undergoing training in order to gain all the necessary skills to become pilots for a limosi. This is somewhat controversial, due to the lack of sense of self when they were entered into that training.

During this time, Cook was selected as part of a Conquest-City agreement to be in a trial experiment for training robots for the military. Using a pilot programmed robot was ideal for this since knowing how to pilot a ship is essential in Conquest military activities. Cook’s AI was trained not only on pilot skills, but also on combat and survival data/scenarios, most of which desensitized Cook’s response to violence, and made him more prone to choosing a violent option first in a stressful situation. This specific AI training is why the Conquest/Neocago are in active pursuit of Cook.
